Amazon's Social Responsibility program drives customer trust, business continuity, and sustainable social impact by embedding respect for human rights and the environment throughout Amazon’s entire value chain. We implement company-wide standards and commitments (such as ourGlobal Human Rights PrinciplesandSupply Chain Standards). We seek to continuously improve the tools and processes used in integrating human rights and environmental due diligence across the business.

We are looking for a Program Risk Manager in Japan to develop and execute strategies to uphold and advance human rights across diverse Amazon businesses in Japan.

You will drive timely identification of emerging risk of human rights and other related risks across Amazon businesses. You will also help design and implement program interventions and solutions that ensure that suppliers, service providers and vendors in Japan.

You will be tasked to address new business risks as they arise by working within worldwide social responsibility team to translate problems and integrate effective solutions with an eye towards automation, scalability and efficiency.

This role necessitates ability to influence, with limited/no authority, various cross-functional partners such as Operations, Procurement, Transportation and Logistics, Public Relations, Legal, Human Resources, Public Policy etc. Your work will help us uphold Amazon's Social Responsibility and Supply Chain Standards.

Key job responsibilities
Lead the implementation of the Social Responsibility activities in Japan.
• Determine appropriate remediation approaches and oversee successful remediation of severe/high risks findings, as per Amazon’s Supply Chain Standards.
• Proactively identify, advise, align and coordinate with diverse Amazon businesses on identified risks, opportunities, and corresponding actions.
• Initiate and lead assessments/investigations and partnership discussions, negotiations and contract development and oversee implementation of improvement programs, as needed.
• Engage with various Amazon businesses in Japan and other cross-functional teams to understand business needs, identify gaps, assess risks, and suggest/implement strategies to operationalize Amazon’s Supply Chain Standards (SCS) throughout our value chain and operations.
• Facilitate discussions with internal teams to design and test regional risk management mechanisms and strategies.
• Support external partnerships working with the regional leader and regional partnership manager

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor degree in Project Management, Sustainability, Social Work or Business Administration
• 5+ years of experience in human rights or ethical/responsible sourcing within global supply chains and/or operations.
• 5+ years of experience (inclusive of the above) delivering cross functional projects in a global company
• Prior experience owning development of strategy, end-to-end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership.
• Exceptional verbal and written communication skills (Japanese and English); communicating successfully across cultures.
• Experience in influencing key stakeholders both internal and external.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience working on (or demonstrated passion for) human rights, labor rights, multi-stakeholder initiatives, international development, labor rights training, or social responsibility.
• Experience working with external stakeholders such as NGOs, investors, and/or government.
• Experience working in an international context.
• Experience working with operations, transportation, logistics, and/or procurement functions.
