- Communicate conceptual architectural data center designs and remediation solutions to internal and external project partners.
- Create, review and release architectural design RFPs and manage external design consultants.
- Provide relevant feedback into Basis of Designs, prototype designs, and template specifications for architectural systems.
- Coordinate with internal and external Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Controls, Cabling and Security design engineers & Construction, Operations and Commissioning on concepts, builds and retrofit projects.
- Lead designs for concepts, build, and retrofit projects at existing data centers
- Collaborate with operations teams to perform root cause analyses of site issues.
- Provide subject-matter-expertise to partner teams for architectural scope.
- Engage with local authority-having-jurisdictions and code officials.
- Decompose complex problems to distill underlying risks and benefits, and identify straightforward and actionable solutions to reduce risk.
- Work on fast-paced concurrent programs across multiple geographical regions.
- Facilitate the escalation of low-level project issues to senior engineering.

A day in the life
Amazon has a global presence; therefore 30% to 40% travel will be necessary. International support will be part of the job, and some international travel will be necessary with short notice. Support could consist of auditing/inspecting data centers, working on international teams and could require developing schematic and design document packages for both global future and existing sites. In this role you will need the ability and willingness to travel for site walks and field observations internationally/domestically with short notice.
